The witness said to the court that his duties included examination of state of affairs around the company and its daughter enterprises (but not those inside of „YUKOS“).

Vice-president of „YUKOS“ Leonid Simanovky (who was on a business trip as well) communicated Kaliman about the emergency in the local branch of „Uganskneftegas“.
Short time later they broadcasted about the death of Petuhov on the radio.
Anatoly Kaliman stated in the court that murder of the mayor of Nefteugansk caused extremely negative reaction of all the employees of „YUKOS“ – both the managing and ordinary ones. According to the witness such a reaction was caused not only by natural human emotions related to tragic death of a person. But also by the fact that the murder of Petuhov, with whom the management of „YUKOS“ had strained relations, was not advantageous to the company – it stroke a blow to its reputation and left unsolved problems pendent.
